MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEMS

Nowadays, information represents a major source of competitive advantages when it is evaluated, filtered, condensed, analyzed, and organized in order to improve the decision making process. Implementing a management information system is important in order to improve the performance of our company.

Bicity is going to use “Microsoft Excel” for its practicality and low cost. The organization is going to develop an information system and data bases in order to collect and then summarize them in reports with tables, graphs, charts etc. This will help the general manager to answer important operating questions and therefore, make decisions.

As a spreadsheet program, Excel can store large amounts of data in workbooks that contain one or more worksheets. Excel is optimized for data analysis and calculation. We will use this flexible program to build models for analyzing data, write simple and complex formulas to perform calculation on that data, pivot the data any way that we want, and present data in a variety of professional looking charts.

Main Functions:

  • Accounting: Cash flow statement, income statement, or profit and loss statement.

  • Budgeting: Create any type of budget — for example, a marketing budget plan, an event budget, or a retirement budget.

  • Billing and sales: Managing billing and sales data (sales invoices, packing slips, or purchase orders).

  • Reporting: Create various types of reports that reflect data analysis or summarize data.

  • Planning: Create professional plans or useful planners (weekly action plan, a marketing research plan, a year-end tax plan)

  • Tracking: Keep track of data in a time sheet or list (a time sheet for tracking work, or an inventory list that keeps track of equipment).
